Yum! Brands is expanding its “Voice AI” technology to Taco Bell drive-thrus, aiming to implement it at hundreds of locations by year-end. The technology, tested at over 100 US Taco Bell stores for about two years, is designed to ease staff workloads, enhance order accuracy, and reduce wait times, while driving profitability. Despite mixed results from AI trials in the fast food industry—positive feedback from Wendy’s and setbacks for McDonald’s—Yum! Brands remains optimistic. The rollout will initially cover a small fraction of Taco Bell’s 7,400 US stores and is also being introduced at five KFC locations in Australia.
